Manolayam Health Care Trust operates three fully residential special schools for intellectually disabled children and adults across Thiruvarur and Nagapattinam districts, providing not just education, but a complete life of care and dignity.

Overview

Since 2003, Manolayam Health Care Trust has been creating safe, nurturing spaces for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Our residential special schools go beyond classroom education, they are homes where residents receive medical care, therapy, nutrition, emotional support, and skill development under one roof.

All three schools are officially recognised by the State Commissioner for Disabled, Chennai, and receive support from the District Disabled Welfare Boards of both Thiruvarur and Nagapattinam.

Our Three Schools

Panankattugudi Special School classroom

Panankattugudi Special School

  • Location: Mela Panankattugudi, Thiruvarur District
  • Established: 2003
  • Beneficiaries: 29 children, ages 6-14

Our founding school, established in 2003, provides residential care and special education for children in their critical developmental years. Set in a calm village environment, the school offers a structured daily routine combining learning, therapy, nutrition, and recreation, helping each child progress at their own pace.

Lakshmangudi Special School

  • Location: Lakshmangudi, Thiruvarur District
  • Established: 2015
  • Beneficiaries: 43 adults, ages 18+

The Lakshmangudi school is dedicated to adult men with intellectual disabilities, a population that is often overlooked after childhood programs end. This residential facility provides long-term care, vocational training, and a supportive community where adults can live with purpose and dignity.

Manolayam Early Intervention Centre

  • Location: Velipalayam, Nagapattinam District
  • Established: 2015
  • Beneficiaries: Infants and children, ages 0-6

Early intervention is one of the most powerful tools in disability care. Our centre in Nagapattinam works with children from birth to age six, the most critical window for developmental support. Through stimulation therapy, parent counselling, and medical support, we give children the best possible foundation before they transition to formal schooling.

  • Cultural programs and celebrations.
  • Sports and play activities.
  • Exposure visits and community experiences.
  • Observation of national days including Independence Day, Republic Day, and World Disability Day.
